— David Henry Thoreau
The wilderness is:

It is a place where we can retreat from society; seek relief from the noise and speed of machines and the crowding of people, reconnect with the land, ourselves and our companions.
The wilderness is proud, determined, patient and reflective and is to be accepted exactly as it is. When we visit the wilderness our egos are diminished in the light of this majestic place and our true selves have an opportunity to explore.
